The Entrée Box Every Delivery Kitchen Runs On

This is the size that handles a real meal. Nine inches long and 3.15″ tall when closed — enough for a full plate of food in a box that shuts, locks, and survives the ride. No separate lid to find, no cling film, no order arriving upside down in the bag.

Molded from sugarcane fiber with a locking front tab and a reinforced base that doesn't flex when carried one-handed. Delivery kitchens buy this size in volume because it covers most of a menu: pasta, curry and rice, a hoagie with sides, ribs, a full breakfast plate.

Why This Size Wins

  • 3.15″ closed height — room for a piled plate, a stacked sandwich, or ribs without the lid pressing down onto the food.
  • Locking front tab — stays shut in a delivery bag at any angle. No tape, no rubber bands, no leaks in transit.
  • Reinforced rigid base — doesn't sag or flex when a full box is carried one-handed.
  • Oil & sauce resistant — handles curry, gravy, and grease without softening or seeping through.
  • One piece, not two — no lid to match, mismatch, or run out of halfway through a shift.
  • Fully compostable — sugarcane fiber throughout. No plastic lid, no lining, no window to separate out.

Best For

A full entrée plate — protein, starch, and vegetables side by side. A 9″ hoagie or sub. A rack of ribs with cornbread. Pasta with garlic bread. Curry with rice and naan. A full breakfast: eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast. Two burgers side by side. If it would fill a dinner plate, it fits here.

Which Should You Order?

This 9″ × 6″ clamshell — for long food and full entrées in hot delivery. Fastest to close, nothing to match, fully compostable.

8″ clamshell (PCT081) — when the food is wide in both directions: pizza, nachos, a barbecue spread. It's also the heavier, sturdier box at 38 g.

6″ burger clamshell (PCT061) — for handheld items. A burger and fries, tacos, a sandwich.

28 oz tray + clear lid (RT96) — when customers need to see the food, as in cold display or grab-and-go. Trade-off: the PET lid is recyclable, not compostable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a full plate of food fit without crushing?

Yes. Closed height is 3.15″, the tallest in our clamshell range, so piled plates and stacked sandwiches close without the lid pressing down.

Does sauce leak from the seam?

The tab closure holds firmly and the fiber resists oil and water. For thin liquids like soup or heavy broth, a bowl with a fitted lid is the better choice.

Is the base rigid enough to carry one-handed?

Yes. The base is reinforced and won't sag under a full load, including when a second box is stacked on top.

Can customers reheat in the box?

Yes, up to 3 minutes in the microwave with the lid open. Not oven or air-fryer safe — direct radiant heat will scorch the fiber.

Why is the carton 250 rather than 300?

Because the box is taller than the trays. Two hundred and fifty of these fill roughly the same carton volume — worth remembering when comparing carton counts across sizes rather than piece counts.

Do they nest for storage?

Yes. Empty boxes nest tightly, so a 250-carton takes far less shelf space than the closed dimensions suggest.
